Five members of the Desert Tiger Taekwondo (DTT) who passed the required trainings were promoted last August 6, 2009 at JAL International Accommodation 25th St. Toqbah, Al-Khobar K.S.A to one color belt higher. Among them are the following:

Francisco C. Viray - Green to purple
Nicomedes G. Lugtu - Yellow to green
Khristian Emmanuel R. de Sesto - Yellow to green
Marlon B. Dela Pena - White to yellow
Adrian A. Micua - White to yellow

Although the promotion was simple, the message of encouragement from DTT Founder & Headmaster Sabum Nim Greg Sugano, with the support of all the black belt members (Boosabum Chito Velez, Boosabum JR Eleda, Boosabum Arnel Sendon & Boosabum Ely Sajo) and with the presence of two visitors (Sensei Robert Vinoya of Taekcojuka and Kyeud Jun Campos of Okinawan) who also shared their skills in Martial Arts made the event more meaningful. During the event, selected DTT members also performed poomse, combat and kicking techniques followed by the traditional Belting Ceremony.

The celebration is not complete without the most awaited part, “Kainan na!!!” (Eating time) courtesy of the five (5) newly promoted members of the club together with the special & delightful cuisine, one tray of boiled egg (nilagang itlog) prepared by Sabum Ely Sajo. Indeed the ceremony was so enjoyable and successful.

Taekwon!!!

I’d like to extend my warmest thanks to all DTT members who in one way or another contributed to the successful induction and recognition ceremony. My special thanks to Mr. Alex Villamayor & Mr. Auric Perez for their continued and untiring support to DTT club, it’s nice both of you for being part of the club.

To Kyoshi Dominador N. Caballero Jr., Shihan Rey Diaz, Sensei Elmer Dela Cruz thank you very much for your inspirational talks and I believe that everybody are inspired and will always remember your messages.

To Sabum nim Romy Aguilar, Sensie Robert Vinuya & Shigung Rolly Tiozon & Co. for their martial arts demonstrations, other visitors and guest thanks a lot. I wish we could meet again and share some of your wisdom in martial arts and expertise. Your very interesting demonstration shall not be remembered but treasure to others as well.

Most Especially my sincere gratitude to our Founder/Chief instructor Sabum Nim Greg Sugano for his perseverance, dedication & invaluable support to mold the physical and mental competence of each DTT member’s to be a resolute Taekwondo Practitioners.

To all newly elected officers, I would like to share with you a short message:

Leadership is not about being elected or appointed to an office. The office does not teach someone how to be a leader, but Leadership is an attitude cultivated over timed.

Are you one to stand up for what you believe in and 'face the music' even when that music happens to be unpleasant? Do you have a purpose and follow that purpose to get the ends you desire? Do you have a vision? These are a lot questions that true leaders answer in the affirmative.

But how do you become a leader?

Each small decision you make takes you one step closer to reality. Remember the goal is not to get power, but to get your vision and your purpose across. Leaders without visions can be likened to driving in a strange town without a road map: you are going to wind up somewhere; it just might not be in the best part of town.

To all DTT members let us be united to one purpose. I hope we’re on the same page. I’ll expect your full support & cooperation to give DTT club more success, medals and trophies in the future. If you failed once, try it again the second time around until you succeed. There is no harm in trying as I remembered an old adage: A little knowledge if more practice is dangerous.

Have good day and GOD Bless us all!
